CheckSystem is a multi purpose monitoring tool for Windows 9x/NT/2000/XP and 2003 Server.
The key features of CheckSystem are:
Disk and partition monitor
With the disk and partition monitor you can control disk space on every hard disk or
network drive. If the available free space falls under a limit, CheckSystem
sends a Mail Alert with detailed information and execute a definable
action. E.g. you can delete files or directories to reduce the used space.
Directory monitor (disk quota)
The directory monitor controls the size of every local or network
directory. If the directory size grows over a limit, CheckSystem
sends a Mail Alert with detailed information and execute a definable
action. E.g. you can make the directory read-only to stop it from growing. With this
feature, CheckSystem can be used as a disk quota
program.
NT / 2000 event log monitor
With the NT / 2000 event log monitor you can catch the event log
messages. If new entries are written in the log, you can configure CheckSystem
to send them by email.
Dr. Watson monitor
This monitor catches Dr. Watson events. If a Dr. Watson error occurs, CheckSystem
sends you a detailed error report which can help you locate the problem and prevent it from
happening again.
Application monitor
With the application monitor you can control every program or
application that is running on your system. If an application is not running it is possible to configure CheckSystem to start it automatically (useful when a critical application fails to load on a server). You can also set the software to check for running applications and terminate them.
CPU monitor
With the CPU monitor you can control the usage of your CPUs and perform
an action when it breaks a limit. An example: An application has crashed
and takes up to 99 % CPU usage so that the system is very slow. The CheckSystem
CPU monitor can be configured to terminate the application so that the system operates normally again.
System service monitor
With the service monitor you can control if a Windows NT/2000 system
service is running or not. If it is not running CheckSystem
can start it. If it is running CheckSystem can
stop the service. This function is very useful for servers. You can guarantee
that a service is always running, i.e. the www-service.
File property monitor
The file monitor informs you if one or all of the properties of a file, file size,
last access or last write, have or have not been changed. I.e. If you want to control
if a logfile is written continuously, CheckSystem is
the right tool for you.
Http monitor
The http monitor can check whether a website is up or down. If the site is down CheckSystem sends you a Mail Alert with the error description (404 - File
not found, Host not reachable, etc.) and execute a definable action, i.e. starts
the World-Wide-Web-Publishing service.
Log file monitor
The log file monitor informs you if new entries are written in a
specified log file. CheckSystem can send the new
entries as an attached text file by e-mail.
TCP/IP connection monitor
With help of TCP/IP connection monitor, you can check if
a specified computer is available in or outside your network (i.e. your
webserver). Just enter the IP address or DNS name and CheckSystem
informs you if the computer is available (again).
Running as system service
On Windows NT and 2000 machines, CheckSystem
runs as a system service. That means, it can run without a user having to log on to the system.
Html report engine
The html report engine, summarises all CheckSystem
monitors and warnings in a single tidy and clearly arranged html file. You can configure the software to
send the report by e-mail.
All monitors have a single e-mail notification. With that and the Mail-To-SMS gateway of your provider, CheckSystem can send all warnings on your cell-phone. Because of these and all the other functions, CheckSystem is the ideal tool for system administrators who need to be kept informed about their systems.
